PEACEKEEPER
Natural Nail Paint
PeaceKeeper Nail Paints are made without
Toluene, Formaldehyde, Acetone, Phthalates, Parabens, or FD&C/Lake
Coloring in our products. And, PeaceKeeper does absolutely NO ANIMAL
TESTING!
Since nature does not make a “real” fire-engine red, you
will not find reds of those tones in our line. Fire-engine reds are
made with FD&C coloring and are synthetic. PeaceKeeper uses minerals
from the earth for coloring like Mica, Titanium Oxide and Ultramarines.
We do however use Carmine (a pigment derived from carminic acid from
the scales of certain insects) in Paint Me Stunning so if you are a
vegan stay away from this colors. ALL of our other nail colors are VEGAN
!
But here’s the truth…Our polishes are still made with
copolymers, which the Environmental Working Group describe as being
“Moderate” in terms of their safety rankings (Safe, Moderate,
Hazardous).
What they say is that copolymers can suppress the
immune system and can be irritating to the skin. We'd like to take them
out of our nail paint but they make up the base of the polish - so if
you are going to wear our nail polishes you should be aware of this.
In the mean time, here are our suggestions about wearing our polishes:
We
feel the absolute best thing for you, and most natural beautiful look,
is your naked and unadorned nail, all by itself. However, for those
times when you want to play with your nail color, or you’re going out
and want perfect polished nails, our polishes are the best brand
available as a safe, paint-based alternative.
But because it is
not perfectly from nature, we don’t recommend that you wear polish all
the time. In fact, let your nails breathe as often as you can!
Our
Nail Polishes have indigenous botanical Argan Oil from Turkey, which is
high in amino acids. And our Top/Bottom Coat which is called Paint Me
Eternal, has Vitamin A & E along with amino acids to nurture your
nails.
PeaceKeeper’s Nail Renewal Oil which is also available, is
a highly nurturing combination of sweet almond oil, ginseng root
extract, myrrha extract, and vitamin E for instant revitalization of
cuticles and nail surface. Use the mineral-based natural nail care to
massage your cuticles and nails.
The Environmental Working
Group's Cosmetics Safety Database (www.cosmeticsdatabase.org) has
independently rated our Eco-Smooth Nail Paints on a scale of 0.0 (for
nontoxics like water) and 10 (for products with the highest toxicity).
Our polishes are ranked a 3 and are the highest rated paint based
non-FD&C nail polish! Natural Nail Polish at its best.
We
feel our nail paints are the best and most natural for anyone, including
children, to use but advise that you should consult your doctor if you
have concerns. Those who can't have gluten will enjoy this gluten free
selection.

isopropyl alcohol, stearalkonium bentonite, acrylates copolymer, styrene/acrylates copolymer, benzophenone-1 (to prevent the sun from fading the product)
May
contain (+/-): Titanium dioxide--the natural occurring oxide of
titanium, a substance mined from the earth. The website "Skin Deep",
which measures toxicity in make-up, indicates that titanium dioxide has
"little absorption and no adverse health effects". Titanium dioxide can
be found in toothpastes and other food substances as well. It is rated
very safe by all accounts, but working with the substance can cause
lung and respiratory problems. PeaceKeeper would like to see more
concrete research, as data gaps remain.
May contain (+/-): Iron
oxides--consist of sixteen known compounds of either oxides or
hydroxides and oxidehydroxides. Iron oxide yields pigments which are
used in cosmetics and are considered non-toxic.
May contain (+/-): Ferric ferrocyanide--a natural and non-toxic nail paint pigment.
May
contain (+/-): Mica--a silicate mineral from the earth, whose name
comes from the Latin word 'micare', meaning 'shine'. Mica use dates
back way back to prehistoric times, with the earliest use found in
paleolithic cave paintings.
May contain (+/-): Carmine--a pigment
derived from carminic acid, from the scales of certain insects such as
the cochineal. Vegans and people not turned on by bugs should not use
the products we make with carmine. Carmine is the only red color
alternative to synthetic FD&C coloring, however, so we feel it is
the better choice.
May contain (+/-): Argan oil--indigenous argan oil is rich in amino acids and nurtures nails. We use oil that is fair trade.
