Light Mountain does not contain FD&C colors, Alcohol, Ethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Parfum, p-Phenylendiamine, Resorcinol, m-Aminophenol, p-Aminophenol, Hydroquinone, 4-Chlororesorcinol, 1.5 Naphtalenediol, 2-Amino-4-Hydroxyethylaminoanisole-Sulfate, 4-Amino-2-Hydroxytoluene, I-Naphtol, p-Methylaminophenol Sulfate, 2 Methylresorcinol, N-Phenyl p-Phenylenediamine Sulfate, Hydrogen Peroxide, diaminobenzene, resorcin or anything other than what is mentioned in the ingredient list.  This product is truly all natural.

This kit is specific to gray hair however.  Inside the box are two treatments: Step 1 is applied first to condition the gray hair, thus aiding the acceptance of the final color treatment. Step 2, the final treatment, seals in the color. Color the Gray! is an all natural hair coloring treatment system for gray hair that does not rely on any chemical agents.  They use premium grade henna and botanicals only. NO PPD.

How does this product differ from permanent hair dyes or semi-permanent hair dyes?  This product does not contain any chemical that can lift and deposit a color into the hair shaft.  Therefore it can not lighten hair.  Rather, it acts more like a hair stain, staining the outer hair shaft.  Since proteins in the hair differ from natural born hair color and gray hair strands, the process of staining the outer hair shaft can present a challenge for some.  This product is recommended for those who have more than just a few of gray hair.  Light Mountain designed a pre-color application that is henna, but is a red base. By applying this first before applying the color, it will help the color to stain or adhere better to the hair shaft. Depending on the length of time you leave it on (recommend just 5 minutes to start), this product will give varying degrees of red to even orange.  5 minutes should leave the gray slightly red, so we suggest being careful.  After processing this first step completely, washing and towel drying the hair, you may begin on the second product in this kit.  This shade you will leave on the hair for up to an hour or more, depending upon how much gray you have.

Results can differ upon coverage and how much red tone you will have.  Because Light Mountain designed the pre-color product to be used before the main color, achieving full coverage is possible. Light Blonde shades and deep black or blue black shades do not seem possible however.

What if you have allergies to PPD hair dyes and aren't sure about using a henna? We can understand any caution you would consider. Allow us to re-assure you that using this brand of henna or other henna we offer here at Natural Solutions, is not the same.  Light Mountain is not a dye, and it does not have any other plant material in it but henna.  This does not mean you may not have an allergy to henna. So before applying, make sure you take a moment and due a skin test. For sure, reducing the amount of ingredients in your hair care will certain help you overall, and that is why Light Mountain should be a good product to consider replacing your current permanent or semi-permanent hair dyes.

Note: If your hair is very porous, dry, damaged or overly permed, the only recommended shade for you to use is a Neutral.

FEEDBACK: Thru the years, some of our customers have tried this product and found that it worked for them.  Hair is a funny thing. It is good to have alternatives available to even alternative products!  I think this may be a good one....I tried using this product myself.  I am over 30% gray and it has increasingly been hard to cover my gray. The two step system is a long one I must say. Allowing the first step to set up means more prep time, but I found that if I started the step 2 prep time sooner it made things go much quicker.  Step one says to leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Believe it. Much more time and your gray can look brassy.  After doing both steps I found that this product had great cover. The bad side is that my scalp felt drier and it stained my skin on my scalp. This led me to itch more as I have a sensitive scalp. There was more red tones than what I wanted, but the product has been a great cover and has stayed in long.  It's not my favorite but it covered my gray!  You be the judge.
