What is www.holisticbeauty.net ? We are a specialty store offering eco-wise consumers as well as consumers who've battled with chemical sensitivities, a wide range of products that meet their needs.  We have tried to find more simpler made formulas, formulas that use organic or all organic, formulas that are not so common and many not found at your large commercial chain stores.  We also have a range of 'Better' Brand options that incorporate chemicals such as hair dye or nail polish, but they are better than competitor brands in that they contain lower levels of ingredients that our customers are trying to avoid.  We try to think proactively about what our customers needs are.  We ask ourselves: 1) can we find this product in an all natural form; 2) does it do what it says it will do; 3) if we can't find it in an all natural form yet, is it a better option than what the competitors have. 

Are you listing just a few ingredients or are these complete listings? These are complete. We request information from the vendors we work with and look carefully if items change.  We reevaluate items if that occurs. 

Do you have more than one site? Yes we do. We also own www.bewellstaywell.com or otherwise known as www.naturalbeautysolutions.net . 

Why do you have two sites? In case a site goes down. www.bewellstaywell.com is our most popular and at times it goes down because we have so many visitors. We need to make sure that at all times, our customers can shop and fill their needs. Our customers don't always have lots of time, so they need to be sure that when they do take the time they can count on us.

Does your company offer items that were tested on animals?  Absolutely not.  Each company we work with have made a strong commitment not to test on animals.

Do you offer items that have animal ingredients in them?  Some of the brands we offer use beeswax, wool wax (pure lanolin), and carmine.  But we spell it out for you, each ingredient. This way you don't get a surprise when you receive your package. We offer many assortments or brands, so you can avoid these ingredients, and although some ingredient labels may list carmine, in a case of lipstick, not all the lipsticks from that brand will contain it, so we have the list available of carmine free lipsticks for that brand as well.  We try to go that extra mile for every person.

Why do you not offer antibacterial cleansers?  While antibacterial cleansers are usually effective against some bacteria on the skin, they end up causing more harm than good down the road.  Research has already suggested that widespread use of antibacterial agents are already leading to the appearance of resistant organisms that will compromise the usefulness of triclosan, the most typical antibacterial agent used in these products.  The CDC( www.cdc.gov )states that hand-washing in warm water with plain soap for at least 10 seconds is sufficient in most cases (even for healthcare workers) to eliminate germs.  Antibacterial products are also marked under the notion that they will lower the risk of disease.  However, flues and most colds are viral infections, not bacterial ones, so antibacterial cleansers are useless to protect against them.  There are also chemical factors of why we do not support antibacterial products.  But we feel the above is reasonable enough to mention.

What is the shelf life for your products?  Living Nature has about 2 years; Martina Gebhardt has about 1.5 years; the cosmetics are at least 1 - 2 years depending upon the item.  Most items are within this time period, including Restored Balance.  We would advise that you not keep items in hot or sunny areas for long periods of time.  Things don't necessarily have to be refrigerated.  Condensation could occur in some items that would not be good, so use good judgement when refrigerating things.  Maybe just a cool place would do instead.  Items like skin cleansers and hair care are used daily, so those items would not be as worrisome as say a moisturizer or lipstick. Real Purity has revealed that their foundation have a one year shelf life; their concealers around 6-8 months; their lipsticks are about a year; their pressed powders can be up to 2.  Consider these estimates when purchasing so you do not end up with a product that goes rancid.

Do you have unscented items?  We have items that do not use essential oils, so you can still smell some plant from the product.  We don't offer bleached or items that have been de-scented. Companies use chemicals to do that.  Logona has a line called Logona Free.  Real Purity has a line called Native Earth Moisturizing Shampoo and Hair Rinse.  They also offer options in unscented for body lotion.  Deep Steep also has an unscented option for hand wash and body lotion.  Just keep in mind that you may still be able to smell some plant.  So we recommend samples for those who are smell sensitive.

Are the samples like mini bottles or lipsticks etc? No. Please read the following closely.  Since we began, we have made our own samples.  They are not professionally made by the manufacturers.  We have to do them here, and we put the liquid items into sample pots, and the powder products into mini zip lock baggies.  We also put lipstick samples in mini zip lock baggies.  The samples are about 1/8th tsp up to 1/4oz depending upon the item.  They are not for re-sell.  They are to accommodate customers who are seeking to make sure that they want a full size product as returns are limited except on defective products or manufacturer approval.

Are your sample pots recyclable? Yes they are. We only purchase pots that can be recycled.
